Onward Ticket
One verifiable booking, delivered by email
- A real airline PNR you can look up yourself
- Booking confirmation PDF by email
- Real human support on WhatsApp and email — not a chatbot
What’s included in your Onward Ticket
Every order includes all 6 of the following.
- Look-up PNR: six characters you can check on the airline’s own site.
- Traveller name: held in your passport name, on a live airline reservation.
- Route: the flight date, and where you fly from and to.
- A booking confirmation PDF by email — route, dates, flight numbers, carrier, passenger.
- A validity window you choose — 48 hours as standard, or extend to 7 days.
- A real person on WhatsApp and email, 24/7 — not a chatbot.
What an onward ticket looks like
The first three are the confirmations we send you. The rest are the same bookings pulled up on the airline’s own site — which is what a check-in agent sees.
How airlines check an onward ticket
The check happens in the airline’s system, not on the PDF.
They read the reference off your confirmation
The six-character code is the only field that matters here.
Booking reference · PNR
They query the airline’s system
The same lookup used for every paid ticket on that flight.
Your booking comes back
Passenger, route, flight number, carrier and date — matching your document.
The onward leg is what they need
A dated booking out of the country, within the stay you are permitted.
How to check an onward ticket
- Go to the airline’s own site — not a booking agent or a flight tracker.
- Find Manage Booking, also labelled My Trips or Retrieve booking.
- Enter the booking reference and passenger surname exactly as printed.
Expect this: a reservation is not a purchased seat, so some airlines show it as “not ticketed”, or show no fare. That is what a held booking looks like in their system — not a fault. If the reference returns nothing at all, contact us and we will put it right.
Will airlines and immigration accept it?
The requirement is written as proof of onward travel: a confirmed booking out of the country within your permitted stay. It asks you to hold a booking, not to have bought a ticket.
So the question is rarely whether a reservation counts — it is whether the booking is there when someone looks. Ours is genuine, in an airline’s own system, retrievable under a real PNR.
What nobody can tell you is what a particular agent or officer will decide. Boarding sits with the airline, entry with the border authority, and both judge on the day. Anyone quoting a rate or a guarantee on that is selling what they do not control. We can be held to the document.
What we are accountable for
- A genuine reservation made in an airline’s own system
- A real PNR you can retrieve yourself before you travel
- Route, dates and passenger name matching the order you placed
- If what arrives is not that, it is a defect in what we sold you
- If we cannot deliver at all, the refund policy entitles you to your money back
Hold a booking that is live and retrievable at the moment someone looks it up. That part is in your hands. The decision never is — not ours, and not any provider’s.
Embassies Recommend Flight Reservations
Most embassies encourage travelers to use a flight reservation — not a purchased ticket — when applying for a visa. Here's what they officially say.
“Does the flight need to be paid for before I apply for a visa? No. … a non-binding flight reservation needs to be presented only. We do highly recommend you not to purchase fixed flight tickets before your visa was granted.”
“Confirmed booking (travel itinerary) of roundtrip air ticket, with fixed travel dates of maximum 90 days and correct number of entries. Do not buy the ticket until visa has been granted.”
“Flight bookings (roundtrip). It is advisable not to buy the air ticket until the visa has been granted.”
“Please note that a preliminary flight booking or travel itinerary should be submitted together with the visa application. The Consulate General recommend you not to purchase a flight ticket before a visa has been granted.”
“A flight reservation or printout of your flight itinerary (NO booked ticket is needed). It is recommended that at no time a flight ticket should be purchased until a visa has been granted.”
“Itinerary with the flight/ship number and date of arrival and departure to and from Japan. Reservations and payments for airline tickets … are not required at the time of visa application.”
“Please be advised that Visa is subject to approval. Applicants should not purchase air tickets before obtaining the visa.”
All quotes are sourced directly from official embassy documents. A flight reservation is the smart, risk-free way to apply for your visa.
Onward Ticket vs. buying a real fare
All three pull up the same way at the desk, under a real PNR. The difference is what it costs you to hold one.

Where proof of onward travel is enforced
Whether anyone asks depends on where you are flying, which airline you are flying with and which passport you hold. These are the places it comes up most often.
Showing all 13 countries and regions.
| Country or region | Enforcement level | Where it is checked | Notes |
|---|---|---|---|
| Philippines | Strictly enforced at check-in | Airline check-in desk | Carriers can be penalised for boarding a passenger without onward travel, so the desk check is routine rather than occasional. |
| Thailand | Strictly enforced at check-in | Airline check-in desk | Asked for most often on visa-exempt entry, and almost always when you are travelling on a one-way booking. |
| United States (Visa Waiver Programme / ESTA) | Strictly enforced at check-in | Airline check-in desk | Holding a return or onward ticket is a stated condition of visa-free entry under the programme, so the carrier checks it. |
| Costa Rica | Strictly enforced at check-in | Airline check-in desk | Proof of exit within the permitted stay. Being turned away at the desk without it is common enough to be well known. |
| New Zealand | Strictly enforced at check-in | Airline check-in desk, and on arrival | Onward travel is a stated condition of visitor entry, and it is checked on both sides of the flight. |
| Indonesia | Checked on many flights | Airline check-in desk | A stated condition of visa on arrival. How consistently the desk asks varies by carrier and departure airport. |
| Panama | Checked on many flights | Airline check-in desk | Onward travel and proof of funds are both listed entry conditions; the airline usually asks about the first. |

Entry rules change, and airlines apply their own conditions on top of the border’s. Treat this as a starting point, not a ruling: check the current requirements for your nationality, your route and your travel date before you fly.
Common questions
Not quite, and the difference is the reason one-way travellers get stopped. The requirement is for a dated booking that takes you out of the country inside your permitted stay. A return flight home satisfies that, which is why it is the version most people picture, but so does a flight to a third country. If you are travelling one-way and have no plans to come back, you are not disqualified: you need an exit, not a homecoming. Our order form takes one-way, return or multi-city routing for that reason.
Whoever is asking wants to see four things on one document: your name as it appears in your passport, a dated flight leaving the country, the carrier and flight number, and a reference they can look up. A screenshot of a search result is none of those, and a fare quote or a held basket is not a booking. The test they are applying is not how official the PDF looks, it is whether the reservation is there when the reference is typed into a system. That is the part worth checking before you travel rather than at the desk.
The table above lists where it comes up most often, but the only answer that matters is the one for your passport and your route. Check two sources: the entry requirements published by the country you are entering, for your nationality, and your airline’s own conditions of carriage — carriers apply their own rules on top of the border’s, which is why the question is usually asked at the check-in desk. Both change, so check them for your travel date rather than relying on what was true last year.
It varies, but not randomly. A check is more likely if you are travelling on a one-way booking, entering visa-free or on a visa on arrival, flying a long-haul carrier into a country that lists onward travel as an entry condition, or checking in at a desk rather than online. It is less likely on a return booking, or where you already hold a visa that covers your stay. Nobody can tell you in advance whether a particular agent will ask — what you can control is holding a booking that stands up if they do.
You choose at checkout: 48 hours as standard, or extend to 7 days. Pick a window that is still open at check-in and on arrival, and give yourself a margin either side rather than matching your departure to the hour. At the end of the window the reservation simply expires — you do not need to cancel it or do anything with it.
Sometimes. Some borders will take any dated onward transport out of the country, a coach or ferry booking included. Check-in staff, though, are working from the carrier’s own rules and generally look for a flight booking they can retrieve in a reservation system, so a ground ticket is the harder one to present at the desk. If you are arriving by air, an onward flight reservation is the one that matches what they are set up to check.
Airlines let a seat be held before it is paid for, which is ordinary inventory behaviour and not something built for this purpose. We place that hold in the carrier’s own system in your passport name, and you get the reference back. Because the booking genuinely exists, it retrieves the same way a paid ticket does. Because it was never paid to ticketing, it carries no fare and releases itself when the window ends. Both halves of that are normal, and knowing the second one is why a screen reading “not ticketed” will not alarm you.
That does work, and plenty of people do it. The catch is what you are left holding: a real fare on your card and a cancellation deadline to hit, usually a 24-hour window, from wherever you happen to be. Miss it, or misread the fare rules, and the cheaper option becomes the expensive one. There is also the wait for the money to come back, which is weeks rather than days. A reservation is the same document at the desk without either job: nothing to cancel, nothing to reclaim, and it expires whether you remember it or not.
Then the reservation is the wrong shape for the trip and it is better to say so now. We sell two windows, 48 hours or up to 7 days, and there is no 14-day option here whatever you may have seen advertised elsewhere. If your date is further out than that, order closer to the time rather than early: a reservation bought too soon simply lapses before anyone looks at it. If it has already lapsed, there is nothing to cancel and nothing to unwind. You place a fresh order for the dates you now need.
Yes. Add each traveller to the same order and everyone appears on the same reservation, which is what a family checking in together wants to hand over. Pricing is per traveller, so the figure moves with the headcount. The part worth slowing down for is the names: each one has to match the passport exactly, middle names and hyphens included, because the desk retrieves the booking on surname and compares it to the document in their hand. If a name comes back wrong, that is our defect and we reissue it.
Super Fast orders are typically delivered in 1–2 hours, Urgent in 8–10, and standard orders within 24 hours, at any time of day. "Typically" is doing real work in that sentence — these are the usual times, not a guaranteed delivery slot, and we would rather say so than quote you a deadline we do not control. You can see exactly where your order is on the order tracking page using the reference in your confirmation email, so you are never left guessing while you wait.
Boarding sits with the airline and entry sits with the border authorities, and no document service has any say in either. What we can be held to is the reservation: if what we send is not a genuine, retrievable booking matching the order you placed, contact support and we will put it right. Refunds are handled case by case and do not cover a boarding or entry refusal — our refund policy sets out where we stand.
Tell us and we will put it right. First rule out the two things that look like a failure and are not: some carriers show a held booking as “not ticketed” or show no fare, which is correct, and a few only expose the record through their own site rather than a third-party tracker. If the reference genuinely returns nothing, that is a defect in what we sold you, not a judgement call, and the fix is a working reservation. This is also the argument for checking the moment the email lands rather than at the airport, while there is still room to fix it.
Yes. Support is a real person on WhatsApp and email, any hour — not a chatbot. If a name, date or PNR is wrong, you reach someone who can put it right.
